The new agreement also bans tariffs on digital products and minimises the limits within which data can be stored in order to promote digital trade and contains important environmental obligations to address a large number of concerns. Several new sectoral agreements have been concluded, in particular as regards medicines, medical devices, cosmetics and chemicals. One of the most affected agricultural sectors was the meat industry. Mexico became in 2004 the second largest importer of U.S. agricultural products by a small player in the U.S. export market before 1994, and NAFTA may have been an important catalyst for this change.
